When is Camp ArtSeen’s 2015 Summer Art Retreat?
This year’s art camp for adults is scheduled for Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26.
Where is Camp ArtSeen being hosted this year?
Camp ArtSeen can happen anywhere and has been hosted at different places over the years. Wildwood Retreat Center will be our home for Camp ArtSeen 2015, for the second year in a row. Wildwood Retreat Center is located off Old Cazadero Road in Guerneville, California. Their website, WildwoodRetreat.com, is full of information about the site, facilities, amenities, history and mission. Here’s a map with driving directions.
Where will I be sleeping?
You will be sharing a luxury tent or rustic cabin room with another camper. Each cabin room has a bathroom and two twin beds with all bedding provided. Cabins are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Tent dwellers share bathroom and shower facilities, which are conveniently located near the tents. Tents are tall enough to stand up in, and each has a small porch out front and two cots with comfortable bedding provided, including sheets and pillows. Those who register early will get their first choice of accomodations. Either way, you will need to bring your own towels.
May I share a bunk with my partner / wife / boyfriend?
While we believe that sharing the Camp ArtSeen experience with a fellow new camper can foster a sense of community and camaraderie, we understand you may be attending with a friend or a family member. Please let us know when you register if you would like us to partner you up with another registered guest and we will do our best to accommodate you. Early registration is the best way to ensure that the accommodations you want are available.
Can I bring my children to camp?
Camp ArtSeen is an adult only event. There is no daycare on site and we want our campers to be able to fully enjoy the creative experience without distraction.
What kind of technology can I bring into Camp ArtSeen?
We encourage Camp ArtSeen’s guests to unplug and leave the cares and worries of your regular life behind. We aim to foster an authentic connection to the creative process and find that technology can sometimes be a distraction. That said, we understand that there are events that require contact with the outside world and ask that you limit your use of cellphones, tablets and other digital media while at Camp ArtSeen.
What kind of food will be served? Will there be vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergy specific options?
We strive to offer the best and healthiest choices for all diets. In your Guest Registration, you will have the opportunity to specify your specific dietary needs, restrictions and/or allergies.
May I bring my own food?
We will provide delicious meals as part of your paid registration, so there really should be no need to bring your own food. The mess hall will have light snacks, tea, coffee and fruit available in the mess hall at all times.
Will there be alcohol?
Camp ArtSeen encourages you to bring a bottle or two of your favorite wine to share with your new community.
What if there is an emergency?
Camp ArtSeen does not have professional medical care available on site and encourages you to be certain you have any necessary medications you might require. The venue for camp is a short drive to the town of Guerneville where other services are available.
What if there is an emergency back home and someone needs to reach me?
There is an emergency guest phone available for paid registered campers to use. You may give out this phone number to loved ones in case of emergency. This information will be in your Guest Registration packet.
Is transportation included?
No. Your paid registration for Camp ArtSeen includes your two-night, three-day stay as a guest, all events, workshops and meals.
Carpooling / Ride shares / Buses
Parking is limited so we encourage as much shared transportation as possible. There will be a link for ride shares on the website closer to the event. Please check back.
What is your refund policy?
Our refund policy is determined on a case-by-case basis. If something comes up that prevents you from attending Camp ArtSeen after you have paid your registration fee, please contact us to work out a fair and equitable solution.
Are scholarships or discounts available?
We offer a limited number of discounts for early registration ($200), returning campers ($100), and campers bringing buddies along (½ off second registration). In addition, we have a limited number of work-study scholarships. If you are interested in a work-study scholarship, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, phone number, and a one-paragraph description telling us why want to attend Camp ArtSeen.
